Another very significant app has been removed from the Windows Phone Store, this time Babbel, a language tuition app brought to the platform in 2013 and which has not been updated since that year.
Interestingly in a press release then Babbel said “Language learning apps presented in October for Windows 8 tablets and PCs are the most successful educational apps in the Windows Store in Germany.”
Presumably this was not enough to keep them engaged in the platform, and now with Duolingo available on Windows Phone likely even less so.
Language teaching apps are examples of apps which would benefit particularly from being made into Universal apps for Windows Phone, Windows and Xbox, and we hope when the company sees these new opportunities arise they will return to the store.
