We regularly publish data on the US and European smartphone market, but very rarely touch on USA’s neighbour, Canada.
A recent Comscore report on the Canadian market however gives a small insight into the region.
In Canada Nokia’s Windows Phones make up around 2.3% of the smartphone market, somewhat less than the 3.6% of American smartphone owners who use Windows Phones.
This is from a population of 19.7 million smartphone users at the end of 2014, meaning there are only about 450,000 Windows Phone owners in Canada vs more than 6 million in USA.
Looking back at past numbers the 2% number has been rather static, being around the same over the last 2 years, despite the rise and fall of other operating systems.
Despite the low numbers Canadian carriers do offer a reasonable selection of Windows Phones, with Rogers offering the Lumia 830 and 635 for example.
