Changewave: Only 1% of US smartphone buyers are planning to get a Lumia in Q1 2015

Research company Changewave have posted the results of their regular survey of smartphone consumers, and the results do not look very good for Windows Phone.

According to their research only 1% of US smartphone consumers are planning to buy a Nokia (presumably Lumia) handset in the next 90 days, unchanged from the same dire result in September 2014, before the holiday season.

That number was 3% in December 2012 and 2% in March 2013, and matches Windows Mobile numbers from 2010.

The numbers indicate a continuing disenchantment of the US market with Microsoft’s mobile strategy, which has concentrated on low-end handsets, a poor fit for the richest market in the world.

It remains to be seen if Microsoft can turn this around, but it certainly will not happen until Microsoft launches a new flagship, which is only expected in the second half of 2015.

Is the US market lost to Microsoft? Let us know below.
