Microsoft's $2.5 billion purchase of the game developer Mojang and its hugely successful Minecraft series wasn't just about adding a new game franchise to the Xbox division. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said today that it will also be a big boost in helping kids learn more about science and technology.

It's for a good reason, though. Sok and Sao are out to save the world from Dengue fever by destroying Aedes mosquitoes, the primarily transmitter of the Dengue virus. Sok and Sao's Adventure is available first on Windows Phone, and is heading to the iPhone and Android devices soon.








 

Microsoft announces Windows 9 event to take place on September 30th

After a few leaks and speculation surrounding a Windows 9 event set for September 30th, Microsoft has now made it official. The next steps for Windows and the Enterprise will be announced in San Francisco on September 30th according to invites now being sent out and it's highly expected a technical preview of the new OS code named Threshold will see release.

Last year, a fun game dubbed Benji Bananas arrived on Windows Phone, coming a few months later than the iOS and Android version. Rinse and repeat for Benji Bananas Adventures, a sequel to the popular banana swinger game, which came out earlier this month.

Benji Bananas and its sequel are those types of games that often slip under the radar. They do not garner many headlines, but they tend to have millions of fans who enjoy the simple vine-swinging mechanics found in the game. Indeed, the sequel builds off the original but keeps the majority of the same style. The graphics are smooth, and the gameplay is short, letting users get some quick action without much time commitment.








 

National Transportation Safety Board calls for U.S. ban on distracted driving

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, or NTSB, is advocating the elimination of distractions while in a transportation vehicle. Citing disasters, sometimes fatal, that could have been avoided if the operator of their transport vehicle, whether that's a car, boat, plane, or train, was focused on the task at hand rather than distractions caused by the use of personal electronic devices (PEDs) in the cabin, the NTSB is calling for a nationwide ban on the use of non-essential electronic devices while driving.

We've known for a few weeks that Rudy was working on a Secret client for Windows Phone. Not familiar with Secret?
