Angry Birds Transformers rolling out in October

Rovio has announced the release date for Angry Birds Transformers. The game is a result of their collaboration with Hasbro, and will be released on October 15, though whether it will arrive on all platforms at the same time is unknown. The announcement was made by way of a video in the style of the 1980s Transformer cartoon.

Broadcom announced a new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo chip today that the manufacturer claims will double wireless networking performance of high-end smartphones and tablets. The hardware vendor claims that users spend an estimated four to five hours everyday on Wi-Fi, and that with the new chipset, they will be able to download and stream content twice as fast as current-gen devices and with less lag.

The company selected the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, HTC One Mini 2, Nokia Lumia 630, LG G2 Mini and Sony Xperia Z1 Compact for a specific test – to be blasted by a flamethrower.








 

ISIS mobile payments service rebrands itself as Softcard

The joint payment venture bewteen Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile US announced earlier this year that they would change their name in order to avoid being associated with violence in the Middle East being perpetrated by a group that, at the time, went by ISIS.








 

Asus unveils Broadwell-powered Zenbook UX305

Asus announced its latest entry in the Zenbook Ultrabook line, the Zenbook UX305, at the IFA today. Sporting an all-aluminium chassis and a 13.3-inch 3200 x 1800 display with a pixel density of 267 ppi along with a new Intel low-power Broadwell-based Core M CPU, Asus claims that the Zenbook UX305 can offer over 10 hours of battery life. In terms of storage, Asus is offering a 256 GB or 512 GB SSD.
