Microsoft cancels the Developer Ambassador program for Windows Phone
8/26/2014 11:50:10 PM

Microsoft continues to move around – and in some cases layoff – various employees or contractors associated with Nokia and Windows Phone. Although the significant cuts came a few weeks ago, there are still some aftershocks being felt. One of those deals with the Developer Ambassadors from the Nokia DVLUP group (www.dvlup.com), as that team is being disbanded effectively at the end of this month.

In a letter sent out to developers from Microsoft DVLUP, the news of the group's demise is revealed, in addition to giving a hearty thanks to the team for their dedication.

Logitech X100 Review: A good, affordable mobile wireless speaker
8/26/2014 11:22:16 PM

There are a variety of portable speakers in the market now that are good enough to fill a room to kick off a party or a conference call anytime.

The Logitech X100 is a decent, affordable option that provides a decent output and is small enough to slip into any bag. It doesn't rival large speakers or even the premium portable speakers in features or sound quality, but a nicely designed, compact speaker at the price it comes at is definitely interesting.

Xbox One Kinect stand-alone to hit the market October 6 for $149
8/26/2014 10:20:18 PM

Ever since Microsoft decoupled the Kinect sensor from the Xbox One, the one lingering question was when would they sell it as a stand-alone unit? Offering an Xbox One without the Kinect sensor made financial sense in Microsoft's struggle against Sony, but it does not mean that people may never want to want to buy the Kinect at a later point. Until now though, there was no option to do so.

Windows Phone Central has now learned that Microsoft is planning to sell the stand-alone Kinect sensor for $149 beginning on or around October 6. The timing is ideal as it leads well into the holiday season in the US and other countries, making the add-on an excellent gift for those who already own an Xbox One without the next-gen accessory.
