8/29/2014 5:36:46 PM

The Nokia Lumia 530 with Windows Phone 8.1 can be had contract-free from UK mobile phones retailer Carphone Warehouse for a cool £39.95. That's a full-fledged smartphone, for under forty quid. Not a bad deal, if we might say so ourselves. Options from Carphone Warehouse to go with that Lumia 530 include Vodafone and EE (well, Orange and T-Mobile, but they're both EE).

T-Mobile's 'personal' Uncarrier 7.0 event to be held at San Francisco store on September 10
8/29/2014 5:20:11 PM

T-Mobile's scheduled their next Uncarrier event (this one being Uncarrier 7.0), and they're holding it on September 10th. The tagline for this event? "This time it's personal"… whatever that means. Unlike previous Uncarrier events, which have taken over convention spaces and theaters, this one is being held at the T-Mobile retail store at the corner of Market St and 3rd St in San Francisco. It's a little store. In fact, the sidewalk outside might be bigger than the store inside.

State of Decay will come back to life on Xbox One next year
8/29/2014 4:36:17 PM

The Xbox One launched with an exclusive game called Dead Rising 3 that, statistically speaking, contains all of the zombies. That game is all about putting hundreds of zombies on-screen at once and then letting players drive cars through them. Plus you can play dress up! It's not the most serious zombie game in the world.

Next year though, the zombie fighting on Xbox One is going to get deadly serious. Today Microsoft and developer Undead Labs announced that Xbox 360 fan-favorite survival fantasy game State of Decay will be coming to Xbox One in 2015! The new edition will include new and improved 1080p visuals, all previous DLC, and brand new content as well. State of Decay: Year One Survivor Edition will be anything but decayed.

Refurbished AT&T Asus VivoTab is yours for just $160
8/29/2014 1:40:34 PM

Sometimes we want the latest and greatest in tech, but simply cannot afford such luxuries. This is where refurbished units come into play and AT&T currently has a sweet deal on the Asus VivoTab 10.1-inch 32GB Windows 8.1 RT tablet, which can be yours for just $160. Since this is a Windows RT-based tablet and not running full Windows 8, the product is slightly more affordable than the Intel option available elsewhere. That said, if you're looking for a companion device to deal with web browsing, light gaming and more, it's a steal of a deal.

Candy Bird, an uncomplicated time waster of a game
8/29/2014 12:45:29 PM

There isn't much to the Windows Phone game Candy Bird. You are tasked with keeping your bird in flight for as long as possible, collecting candy that will randomly appear on the screen. Along the way you will also need to avoid spikes that are at the bottom and sides of the screen that will ground your bird and end the game.

Available for low-memory devices, Candy Bird has simple gaming controls and nice, minimalistic graphics. After spending a little time with the game, we can't say CandyBird will hold up to marathon gaming sessions but for shorter bits of time, Candy Bird isn't a bad time waster of a game.
