The Lumia Cyan update is going wider and wider each day. Starting yesterday and into today, many countries in Europe and the Middle East began getting the dual 8.1 and firmware update to their phones. Lumia 920 owners can rejoice. Even if your country is not listed, you know it is getting close.
As usual, we have gone through and documented by region, country, and carrier those that are eligible for the Lumia Cyan update! For non-Lumia 920 users, you can check your phone on our Cyan tracker page.
This is Cortana with the Dot View case on the HTC One for Windows
8/20/2014 8:36:56 PM
Cases are always an optional accessory on phones, but the Dot View case for the HTC One M8 for Windows is much more than just protection. The case is interactive, showing owners useful information like the time, current temperature and the current conditions. The case is 'dot view' because of the mesh screen gives users a dot-matrix picture of that info.
On the new Windows Phone version, Microsoft and HTC added something unique to the equation: Cortana integration. Although all Windows Phone 8.1 devices in the US get Cortana, the HTC One (M8) for Windows goes a step further by adding a feature to the Dot View case. Users simply swipe down on the case when the phone is in standby, and Cortana comes to life.
HTC One M8 for Windows borrows double-tap to wake feature from Nokia
8/20/2014 8:06:45 PM
When the Windows Phone 8.1 SDK leaked back in February, double-tap to wake was seen in the documentation, suggesting that Nokia's tech was being opened to all OEMs. Fast-forward to August and HTC's new One for Windows is the first non-Lumia Windows Phone to feature this useful technology.
Double-tap to wake came to Nokia Lumias in mid-2013. The optional tool lets users tap their display twice when it is off, letting people turn on their phones without using the power-button. Double-tap has always been a useful feature, especially if you only have one-hand available and you would like to use your phone.
Fantasia: Music Evolved for Xbox One and 360 will 'Let it Go' to those who preorder
8/20/2014 7:07:14 PM
The Kinect is no longer as important to Microsoft's Xbox One plans as it used to be (neither of the Call of Duty nor Sunset Overdrive bundles will include it). The Xbox One launched without any compelling Kinect games (though we enjoyed Zumba Fitness World Party), and developers haven't been too eager to pick up the slack since then.
Luckily, Harmonix is on the case. The studio has two Kinect-specific Xbox One games in store for the fall: the downloadable Dance Central Spotlight and the retail Fantasia: Music Evolved (Xbox One and 360, published by Disney). Dance Central comes with built in-good will from Xbox 360 Kinect owners, but Fantasia is a more unknown property. To help get things moving, Disney has announced that Fantasia preorders will include a bundle of three bonus songs – including "Let it Go" as performed by Demi Lovato!
