The app was recently updated to version 2.2 and adds a handful of new calculators to the toolbox, OneDrive integration and more.
Please note this update only applies to the paid version of Calculator Toolbox. The free, ad-supported version will eventually see the update but will lack premium features such as OneDrive integration and Excel report generation.
Smaller Windows 8.1 Update 2 reportedly on track for August 12
8/1/2014 8:06:27 PM
The second update to Windows 8.1 will reportedly hit August 12. The update will apparently be a fairly minor one, and will not be manditory. This seems to be a change to Microsoft's orignaly plan for a much bigger Update 2, according to ZDNet:
FitBit for Windows Phone gets first update, transparent tile option and fixes
8/1/2014 7:13:48 PM
Earlier this week, FitBit brought their official app to Windows Phone (see our review), including Bluetooth synchronizing for those on Lumia Cyan or non-Lumia devices with Bluetooth 4.0 LE enabled.
Now, version 1.1 is live in the Store and with it a few fixes, some cleaning up of the design and a new transparent tile option (that is right, the choice is yours).
OneDrive for Windows Phone gets itself a little update
8/1/2014 7:12:06 PM
There's a new update for OneDrive on Windows Phone, and they've dubbed this one to be version 4.2.1.0. The last update (v 4.2) brought improvements to the downloading experience for the OneDrive app, but this one? We're not sure.
Unlock your phone legally starting today
8/1/2014 6:56:35 PM
President Obama will today sign a bill into law that will allow American citizens to legally unlock their phones in order to take them to another cellular carrier, either in the United States or abroad. The President announced his intent to sign the bill last week. The new law is only a temporary measure, and is only valid until 2015.
Employees in China protest Microsoft's massive layoffs
8/1/2014 6:40:07 PM
Nokia employees in China are protesting the massive layoffs introduced by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella last month. Hundreds of employees in China are said to be picketing the "hostile takeover and violent layoffs" for hours on Friday, and those employees would convene in the afternoon to hand over their demands to the Lumia-maker.

A leaked press render of the Windows Phone-based HTC One M8 has finally emerged on Verizon's site showing a similar design to the Android counterpart. The all-metal phone is shown in a slate grey finish and comes with the trademarked HTC BoomSound speakers along with Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 operating system with on-screen navigation keys.
Bing Vision lost all features but QR scanning in Windows Phone 8.1
8/1/2014 5:56:47 PM
Bing Vision was at one time a very interesting and innovative feature on Windows Phone 7.5 in 2011. The camera tool lets users scan QR codes, barcodes, books, CDs, DVDs, and even the (now) deprecated MS Tags. As creative as it is though, it never seemed to make waves in the tech world. Ironically, in mid-2014 Amazon's Fire Phone is nothing but a super Bing Vision with links to Amazon's massive online store.
Bing Vision gets a demotion in Windows Phone 8.1, at least for those in the US and other regions where Cortana is the primary means of search. This loss of function is because Cortana does not handle scanning items with the camera.

Awesome car-chasing game Pako adds premium version with 3 new levels
8/1/2014 4:19:45 PM
Our favorite car chasing game, Pako, has just added a premium version of their game to the Windows Phone Store. Unlike the free version, this one is completely ad-free and adds three new levels: Cemetery, Highway, and Square. We're big fans of this game and we're glad to see it get even better.
We've purchased the premium version on our Nokia Lumia 930. Head past the break to watch our gameplay video with the new levels.
Yes, Facebook was down, you're not alone
8/1/2014 4:13:47 PM
Update: It appears that access to Facebook is back up for both the web and the Windows Phone apps. You are now free to carry on with your day.
It appears that Facebook's newest feature is "being offline". Attempts to visit the social network right now are being thwarted by a lack of stuff to load, from a "Sorry, there was an error" or "We're having trouble getting data" alerts with no new content in Windows Phone app to an apology of "Sorry, something went wrong" in browsers. Let us know, is Facebook down for you too?
