Bing has just updated a handful of their apps for Windows Phone. You'll find updates for Finance, Health & Fitness, News and Weather available today. Are we getting a huge update with new features? Nope, looks like just bug fixes.

Earlier today, the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 started trickling for users who are on Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers. As the Windows Phone team at Microsoft shared a few days ago, the latest update brings Cortana to China and UK in beta and to India, Australia, and Canada in India.

This early adopter program for the latter is opt-in, and gives people the option to try Cortana using English language models from the US and the UK. Let's see how we can configure it for Windows Phone devices in these regions.

Microsoft calls these "Live" folders because whatever app or game is included in the folder still has their Live Tile enabled. How do you create them? It's easy! Let us show you.

Some devices need OEM driver updates before Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1

You're probably enjoying Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 that rolled out earlier today – unless you're on an HTC 8X or HTC 8S. We reported earlier today that those on the 8X and 8S we're unable to get Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1. The cause? Turns out it needs an OEM driver update from HTC.

Windows Phone 8.1 Update has numerous new features in it, with many being under the hood changes for phone manufacturers. One of the more interesting changes though is long outstanding: a Live Tile for the Windows Phone Store.

System apps typically do not have flipping Live Tiles, which is maybe why the Store and Xbox Music apps did not have them. Both of those are changing with Update 1 as the Store Tile now flips to reveal new apps and deals, and the Xbox Music app update (due in the coming weeks), also brings a long awaited Live Tile.








 

In-flight phone calls likely won't happen with proposed new U.S. rules

The United States Department of Transportation is getting closer to establishing formal rules on whether or not to allow in-flight communications, including receiving and placing phone calls while on a plane. Likely, according to reports, that decision would be no, meaning that passengers would continue to be barred from placing or receiving phone calls while they are in transit.

Wunderlist now available for Windows Phone as a public beta [Update]

Update: Looks like this was pushed early and not meant to be public. The beta has now been pulled and is no longer published.

The Wunderlist beta app is now available on Windows Phone. Just last week we learned that the third version of Wunderlist would be arriving on Windows and Windows Phone 'soon.' Turns out that meant today, because you can download the beta right now.








 

Internet sharing over Bluetooth comes via GDR1 update for Windows Phone

In the Windows Phone Update 1 Preview, new Bluetooth profiles are supported in the latest OS update from Microsoft, giving consumers access to new abilities. Those new profiles included PAN (personal area network) 1.0 profile, aptX codec support for A2DP, and browsing support for AVRCP.

In regards to PAN, one visible area in which consumers can immediately see the difference is visible under Internet Sharing.

Microsoft has started taking pre-orders on its store website for a version of its Xbox One game console that will come bundled with Electronic Arts' upcoming pro football game Madden NFL 15 for the console's regular price of $399.99.








 

Viber for Windows Phone gets new version [Update: app pulled from store]

Update Just after the Viber app was updated, it was apparently pulled entirely from the Windows Phone Store. We have contacted Microsoft and Viber to find out what is going on with the Windows Phone version.

Original story The popular Viber messaging app for Windows Phone just received a new update today in the Windows Phone Store that offers some new features, additions and improvements, including a new Hold & Talk feature for instant voice messages.








 

White Xbox One listed, and then delisted, on French retail website [Update]

Update Polygon is reporting that Microsoft has confirmed a white Xbox One console with Sunset Overdrive will indeed be sold, but there's no word on pricing or availability yet.

Original story A white version of Microsoft's Xbox One console, which was previous available just for members of the company's Xbox development team, may be heading to retail stores, according to a pre-order listing on a French site that was quickly pulled.
