Yahoo scoops up mobile analytics firm Flurry to strengthen their mobile products

Yahoo has been on a mission to strengthen their mobile products for a while now and to push that envelope even further, the company has now announced they'll be acquiring mobile analytics firm Flurry after having reached a definitive agreement. Flurry, was started in 2008 and today has reached over 170,000 developers across 1.4 billion devices monthly with their services being offered to pretty much every mobile operating system out there one way or another.

Verizon is providing subscribers with incentives for being loyal through a new Smart Rewards program. Described as a rewards program where customers gain "points...for their everyday activities and interactions with Verizon Wireless," the Smart Rewards program brings savings, discount offers, and promotions from established brands and local retailers to participants.








 

OneDrive updated for Windows Phone with download location choice, progress page and more

Today must be update Monday for Microsoft. We've seen a few Microsoft apps updated today for Windows Phone already. Battery Saver gained some list-sorting abilities, while Bing Translator now does voice conversion for Chinese. Now we're looking at a brand new update for the OneDrive app on Windows Phone.








 

Classic Windows 7 features make appearance in test builds of Windows 8.1 successor

After having revealed its intentions at the Build conference earlier this year to resuscitate the Start menu, a feature that was ditched since introducing the Metro-inspired Start screen on Windows 8, it looks like Microsoft is ready to bring back the Start menu on a forthcoming version of Windows, but with a Metro twist. As it is leaked, in concept, the Start menu appears similar to the one that Windows 7 users have seen, but will be meshed together with Tiles like on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.

Microsoft has released a new update to its Windows Phone 8.1 Battery Saver feature, allowing owners of phones with the OS to download and install it as an app from the Windows Phone Store.
