Microsoft issues security advisory affecting all versions of Windows, Windows Phone

Microsoft has issued a security advisory that affects users of all currently supported versions of Windows, including Windows 8, Windows Phone, and Windows RT. Though no immediate action may be required from the user on select platforms, it is important to know what is happening as it relates to the improper issuance of SSL certificates, which Microsoft says "could be used in attempts to spoof content, perform phishing attacks, or perform man-in-the-middle attacks."








 

Cortana begins speaking in Chinese unofficially

It appears that a simple mod has made Cortana into a Chinese speaking assistant ahead of Microsoft's official support for the language. Though the procedure allows Cortana to respond in Chinese, you do have to ask your questions in English at this time.

Sheep Up!, popular iOS and Android game jumps into the Windows Phone Store with exclusive content

Another popular game from iOS, Android, and Blackberry has just made its way to the Windows Phone Store. Sheep Up! has been a big success with over a million downloads on other platforms, and now Windows Phone users get to play it, too. In collaboration with Nokia, Microsoft, and AppCampus (appcampus.fi), the developers have included exclusive content with a new edition of the game to launch on Windows Phone. It's called Sheep Up! Along with the Lumia 930 starting to become available, globally Nokia also has a new case for it and the Lumia Icon.

Dubbed the CP-637 the flip cover is similar to the CP-623 for the Lumia 1520. The case offers some nice reinforcement of the back, a rather large hole for the camera, and a reinforced flip cover to protect your 5-inch display. 9 of 10 emergency wireless calls lack accurate location data in D.C. area

Don't cut the cord just yet on your home phones! FCC data reveals that 9 out of 10 emergency calls made with a cell phone in Washington, D.C. lack accurate location information, making it harder for emergency workers to respond in a crisis. The data was collected in the first half of 2013 and only covers the D.C. area in the U.S.

LinkedIn profile references Windows Threshold and LG, hinting at larger partnership

A Microsoft employee in Korea has a LinkedIn page that shows references to "Threshold', the code name for the next major version of Windows, along with vauge indications of a collaboration with LG.
