Microsoft updates Cortana with recommendations for nearby places and local apps

Yesterday we saw Cortana get updated on the background with a few changes or Windows Phone 8.1. If you went into Cortana's Interests you'd see a local events finder. Microsoft stated that they'd be updating Cortana every few weeks. Today some users see a few more categories under the Interest's section – recommendations for nearby places and local apps.
Qualcomm announces record FQ3 2014 earnings despite increased R&D expenses

It looks like Qualcomm's increased expenses into researching an developing better 3G CDMA and 4G LTE modems are paying off as the chip-maker has announced record earnings for the third quarter of the 2014 fiscal year. Revenues are up 9 percent year-over-year making a growth in net income of a whopping 42 percent compared to the previous year.

When I was growing up, RC cars and remote controlled gizmos were always underwhelming unless you could afford the 'big boy' toys preferred by hobbyists. In 2014, not only are connected devices becoming mainstream, the way we control them has shifted from dedicated controllers to our phones and tablets.
Sphero 2.0 (2013) follows on the footsteps of Sphero 1.0 from 2011 and is made by Orbotix. In essence, it is a ball that rolls around, controlled through your phone or computer. On the face of it, Sphero sounds…temporary, as in you have fun with it but only for a short time. After all, how fun can it be just to drive a ball around the house.

Strong subscriber growth powers AT&T's Q2 2014 earnings

AT&T had a great quarter that was driven by the addition of 2 million new users to its wireless and wireline businesses. Combined with the rest of its operations, the carrier reported that revenues were up 1.6 percent, meaning that it took in $32.6 billion. The carrier noted a higher $1 billion operating expense compared to a year ago at $27 billion giving it an operating income of $5.6 billion.
