BlackBerry has confirmed that its BBM app for Windows Phone devices will be coming out sometime next week, following an apparently successful closed beta test.

Over at the Inside BlackBerry Blog today, Matthew Talbot Senior Vice President, Emerging Solutions at BlackBerry has detailed some information about where BlackBerry is hoping to take BBM in the long term and the overall cross-platform strategy of the app. The post highlights a lot of interesting stuff such as his recent trip to Jakarta and seeing billboards advertising devices as coming with BBM.

If you've managed to stay on an unlimited data plan on Verizon, you might soon notice that your speeds beginning to slow down if your using a lot of data . A limited set of customers will fall under the umbrella of Verizon's so-called "Network Optimization" policy, which Verizon says is not throttling. Kick (2014) is a Bollywood action thriller film, directed and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and stars Salman Khan in the lead role. As part of the promotions in the run up to the movie release, the producers have partnered with Indiagames to release the official game for the movie, KICK-TheOfficialGame.

In the game, you play as Salman Khan's character in the movie – a good-natured thief who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. As you go along, you need to steal from five different locations and get on a high-speed bike chase against the cops. You need to steal with your mind coming in like a storm, and escape with valor.

Yesterday was both an exciting and frustrating day for Lumia 1520 owners on AT&T. On the one hand, the highly anticipated Lumia Cyan update was released, enabling many new features and tweaks. However, many users, including ourselves, quickly found out that we could not get the update unless we rolled back to Windows Phone 8.0. This update situation is not going to be a permanent problem as we do expect Microsoft to release an update to the Preview for Developers.

Regardless of these hiccups, we figured we would recap what is and what is not new on the Lumia 1520 with Lumia Cyan.








 

Cyan update rolls out for Lumia 1020 in Canada

The official Nokia Canada Twitter account has revealed owners of the Lumia 1020 in the Great White North should be able to download the Lumia Cyan firmware update that contains Windows Phone 8.1.








 

VLC making its way to Windows Phone very soon

It looks like highly-anticipated media player VLC will be making its way to Windows Phone next month. Developer Thomas Nigro is planning to first release the app as a beta, just as he did with the recent Windows 8 app. Nigro is planning an August release for the first version of VLC for Windows Phone.
