Microsoft helps to launch free web-based version of Catan board game

Microsoft's Internet Explorer team has announced it has helped to launch a free web-based version of the classic board game Settlers of Catan called Catan Anytime. The game was made in collaboration with Catan, Mayfair Games and Bontom Games.








 

Windows Phone 8.1 Preview users still need to downgrade their OS in order to get Lumia Cyan

Earlier today, AT&T announced that their Lumia 1520 is now receiving the Lumia Cyan and Windows Phone 8.1 updates. However, it quickly became evident that those with the Preview for Developers installed on their Lumia 1520s did not have an update, but those with Windows Phone 8.0 did. The reason for the discrepancy is Microsoft has put on hold updates for those running the Preview.

As such, those who are on the Preview and who still want the Lumia Cyan update need to downgrade their OS first. This is still Microsoft's position on the situation.

Foursquare teases Swarm for Windows Phone, still coming soon

Swarm for Windows Phone is apparently right around the corner. Foursquare today dropped the first images of the app on their blog, noting that it's still "coming soon" — just how soon we're not quite sure. Swarm has been available on iPhone and Android devices for a few weeks now, but thanks to high demand from users, will soon be brought to Windows Phone as well.








 

Titanfall to add in-game, but not real money, currency in upcoming update

Developer Respawn Entertainment has announced that it will release an upcoming free update to the Xbox One version of its sci-fi shooter Titanfall which will add an in-game currency system to purchase items, but it won't involve players paying for those items with real money.








 

AT&T announces that the Lumia 1520 Windows Phone 8.1 update is now live

Starting at 1PM ET today, AT&T has announced that the Lumia 1520 is cleared to receive the Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Cyan update.

Owners of the Lumia 1520 can head into their Settings > Phone Update > Check for update to begin to receive the latest OS from Microsoft and new firmware to enable advanced features from Nokia.
