Congratulations to our Surface Pro 3 winner!
6/20/2014 11:25:05 PM
Okay folks, as Friday is winding down we figured it were time to announce our Surface Pro 3 contest winner. If you recall, all you had to do was leave up to three comments on our original article. Those comments were enough to enter, even if you're world-wide.
We ended up having an astonishing amount of entries, which broke our backend CMS a few times (thanks for the free stress test!). Let's take a look.

Here's my wallpaper for the Surface Pro 3
6/20/2014 8:28:24 PM
In scanning comments and tweets from my Surface Pro 3 review this morning, one request kept coming up: Where can I get that wallpaper? It's always a funny and flattering thing to write nearly 5,000 words on new hardware only to have your wallpaper be the most exciting thing, but hey, I get it!
So without further ado, here is the 1280 x 1024 colorful polygon wallpaper that I use on my Surface Pro 3 and other Windows 8.1 devices.
How to Cook Everything with a Windows Phone (Hidden Gems)
6/20/2014 7:49:44 PM
It's time to grow up and start cooking like an adult. No more microwavable meals. No more take-out from that Chinese place down the road. And please stop ordering Domino's twice a week. You don't need to become Thomas Keller or Gordon Ramsay, but you need to at least be able to make a week's worth of meals without breaking down.
Thankfully for you, there's an app in the Windows Phone Store that's going to help you discover the rewards of simple cooking. How to Cook Everything is a bestselling cookbook from New York Times columnist Mark Bittman. The cookbook features more than 2,000 simple recipes and has been helping folks learn how to cook for over a decade. That book is now an app for Windows Phone.
Let's take a look. And remember, if you leave a comment, you enter into our daily Hidden Gems contest to win a new tablet or phone!
Heroes of Order and Chaos from Gameloft does battle on Windows Phone and Windows 8
6/20/2014 7:38:44 PM
Does anybody remember Order & Chaos Online? It was the first and only Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) for Windows Phone with Xbox support. Although beloved by RPG fans, publisher Gameloft basically abandoned the Windows Phone version of Order & Chaos Online. With no content updates or bug fixes, and compatibility issues making it unplayable on the Nokia Lumia 1520, the game never got the chance to thrive like it should have.
One year later, Order & Chaos is back! Sort of. Gameloft has just released Heroes of Order & Chaos for Windows Phones with 1 GB of RAM and Windows 8 and RT. Heroes is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) spin-off of the main game. Since the PC hit League of Legends is not available on mobile devices, Heroes of Order & Chaos is truly the next best thing. And it's free to play, with cloud save support. Head past the break for our hands on video and first impressions!
Lomogram rises from the ashes of controversy, re-released in the Windows Phone Store
6/20/2014 7:30:20 PM
Lomogram is a popular Windows Phone photography app that featured over forty creative filters and other editing effects to give your Windows Phone photos a little zip. The app was recently updated with a few design changes that included a name change to Metamorphosa. Changes that weren't exactly well received.
While we aren't certain as to the particulars, there seems to have been a parting of the ways between the developers and publisher of Lomogram with some suggestion that the original app was stolen. The end result of all this controversy is the re-release of Lomogram, as Lomogram+, in its pre-Metamorphosa form.
Surface Pro 3 with Core i7 and Core i3 arriving early on August 1st
6/20/2014 3:25:57 PM
Today kicks of sales of the Surface Pro 3 online and from authorized retailers in the US and Canada. Currently, only the Core i5 version is available for sale with the Core i7 and Core i3 variants expected at the end of August. However, in a post on the Surface Blog, Panos Panay revealed some good news for those eagerly waiting for those versions, as the date has been bumped up from end of August to "ships by August 1st".
Although customers will still have to wait 40 more days, Microsoft looks to have shaven off nearly a month from the original anticipated ship date.
