Facebook beta gets a quick patch update for Windows Phone 8 and 8.1

It was exactly one week ago that Microsoft revealed the new Facebook beta experience for Windows Phone 8 and 8.1. The new version of the app brought it up to 5.3 and 8.3, depending on your OS version and with it a few new features like video upload and a brand new UI.
Today, Microsoft has pushed out a small update to address some initial bugs, and we're assuming any performance issues. Heading to the Store you will see version 5.3.0.2 and 8.3.0.2 if you're on Windows Phone 8.1.

The Xbox One is overflowing with downloadable games lately thanks to the ID@Xbox program. Last week we got Outlast and Sixty Second Shooter Prime, and today Zombie Driver Ultimate Edition had a surprise launch. But when the new console launched last year, players only had a few downloadable games to choose from. The first such title to qualify as a hit was undoubtedly Peggle 2 from Electronic Arts and PopCap. The game later arrived on Xbox 360 as well.

As the Mobile Nations Fitness Month winds down, we turn our sights on a rather unique Windows Phone app that is designed to help ward off pesky mosquitoes. One element of being fit is staying healthy and with the risk of disease and being annoyingly itchy, mosquito bites can impact our fitness quest.
Anti Mosquito! is a Windows Phone app that is designed to complement traditional pest control methods (repellent sprays, citronella candles, etc.) to keep the mosquitoes away by using high frequency sounds. It's an interesting concept and if you are at your wits end at battling mosquitoes, Anti Mosquito might be worth a try.

Zappos is bringing its quick and easy online shopping experience to Windows Phone with a nicely designed app that takes advantage of the platform's panoramic UI. The app allows you to easily browse shoes, clothing, eyewear, jewelry, and other merchandise that Zappos sells. The Internet retailer offers free next business day shipping as well as free returns making it convenient to shop online and still ensure that you get the proper fit and look for fashion items.

Sending your video recording to YouTube on Windows Phone has always been a bit of a kludge, especially since Google doesn't play nice with Microsoft. Luckily we have some dedicated third-party developers to fill in the gaps.
'Upload to YouTube' is a relatively new app designed from the ground up for Windows Phone 8.1. Can you guess what it does? Being built for Windows Phone 8.1 gives is the ability to grab videos right from the Camera Roll for easy sharing to the app. That means you can just select your recording, share and fill in the details without any complications.

It's kind of hard to believe that I've been using Windows Phone 8.1 for over two months now. Like many of you, I downloaded and installed (and upgraded) to Windows Phone 8.1 on April 14. That was the day the Preview for Developers version was released to Windows Phone developers and enthusiasts. I've been using Windows Phone 8.1 as my daily driver on my Lumia 925 and Lumia 1520 since then.
