We love checking out new apps for Windows Phone and Windows 8.1. Especially when those apps are official and have long been requested by the community. Today Windows 8.1 is getting a highly sought after app. It's time to welcome Roku to the Windows family.

Anova's sous vide Precision Cooker brings support to Windows Phone through an app, allowing you to precisely cook food. The utensil pairs with an app on your phone using Bluetooth, and the app will also provide you with recipes and instructions on how to prepare food the sous vide way. Bluetooth connectively means that your phone must be within range to get updates from your culinary creations, but at least you won't have to stand in front of the stove fretting all day.

While gas prices continue to rise, SmartGas is a Windows Phone app that could help you find the best fuel price in your area. SmartGas will not only search for the lowest price for gas in your area but also calculate your smartest station based on the round trip cost of driving to and from the station.
I liked the concept behind SmartGas and saving a few dollars never hurts. However, a few performance issues, a cluttered appearance and some confusing in-app purchases holds this app back. On the plus side, the app is a universal app for both Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8. Bottom line - SmartGas has potential but needs a little renovation.

We're all waiting for the Lumia Cyan update with bated breath. It's going to bring a lot of cool new firmware features to the mix for those with a Lumia handset. Just an hour ago we learned of a provisional and pilot Cyan update for the Lumia 925 in Finland. Turns out they might not be the only region getting the update. Reports are coming in that users in Argentina are receiving Cyan.

Movie Maker 8.1 for Windows Phone is the ideal app for those who love to use the video recording capabilities of Windows Phone 8.1, specifically with the ability to edit those short films. The app has today been refreshed with a bunch of new features included, including the ability to upload videos to Instagram. Not only has the developer added requested features, but Movie Maker as a whole is becoming more open, collaborating with other platform developers to make the app even better. Let's just say the future looks bright for this app.
