Better late than never is a phrase we're used to repeating for official apps on Windows Phone and now PlayOn is the latest entry to add to that list. If you're not familiar with the branding, it's a media server for Windows computers with support for mainstream channels, enabling consumers to stream HD shows, movies and personal media files from the PC to a TV, smartphone or tablet.

Hisense and China Telecom are about to show Windows Phone more support in China

Ever since Microsoft removed the licensing fee for the Windows Phone operating system, we have seen a healthy number of new OEMs joining the ecosystem in a pretty short time. Now Hisense, a relatively low profile Chinese smartphone maker that previously has been focusing on Android, is about to announce their first ever Windows Phone device on June 26. That is the 26th day of June in China, which means by the time you are reading this story, the device would have already been unveiled, and our follow-up story will be almost ready.

News of such an announcement by Hisense came yesterday, though we have more details to add to the story today.








 

Official NY Waterway app enters the Windows Phone Store after a couple of years on iOS and Android

NY Waterway (nywaterway.com), the largest private ferry operator in the United States, has recently launched its official Windows Phone app. It has been available on iOS and Android since 2012, but customers who are also Windows Phone users can now use it on their phones. With this app, customers can purchase paper-free NY Waterway tickets without lines or vending machines, and use their phone as a ticket with or without an Internet connection.
